Knitting Guild

Big Sky Knitting and Spinning Guild is new to the Columbia Falls area and anyone interested is invited to attend their meetings. The guild meets at 7 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month, beginning Sept. 25, at the Columbia Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, across the corner from the Columbia Falls police station.

Land Use meeting

The next meeting of the Middle Canyon Land Use Advisory Committee will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Glacier National Park Headquarters Community Building in West Glacier.

On the agenda will be a discussion regarding a proposal to limit industrial land use in the Middle Canyon area by amending the current zoning regulations for the area.

Prospectors meet

The North West Montana Gold Prospectors will meet at Libby Creek on Sept. 22-23 for their outing. For more information, call 892-3722 or 892-2704.

Gallery event

Hawk Creek Gallery will host an open house on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7 to feature the unique artwork of Peter Moore. The Gallery is located six miles north of Polebridge and 1.2 miles west on Red Meadow Road.

Tai Chi classes

Tama Hader will be teaching a seven-week Tai Chi class on Tuesday evenings beginning Sept. 25th and going through Nov. 6. The Beginner Class is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the Intermediate Class will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The registration fee is $35 for each class.

Boy Scout sale

On Saturday, Sept. 29, Montana Boy Scouts will kick off their annual popcorn sale. As one of the organization’s most popular fund-raisers, the popcorn sales support local Scouts’ activities throughout the year.

Montana Boy Scouts will be selling Trail’s End Popcorn, which was the first microwave popcorn producer to eliminate the flavoring ingredient diacetyl. In fact, none of the Trail’s End products sold by Montana Scouts have any diacetyl flavoring.

FCDW meets

The regular monthly luncheon meeting of the Flathead County Democratic Women will be held on Monday, Sept. 24 at 11:45 a.m. at the Red Lion Inn in the Kalispell Center Mall. Beth Cogswell from Missoula will present a program regarding the state of women’s health care and women’s issues in Montana.

The cost of the luncheon is $10. No reservations are required and everyone is welcome to attend.

Citizenship class

Literacy Volunteers of Flathead County is hosting free U.S. citizenship classes during a nine-week period this fall.

The classes are on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. from Sept. 12 through Nov. 14. They will be at Literacy Volunteers, 35 4th St. W. in Kalispell. For more information, call 257-7323.
