The Lady Bulldog soccer team is on a roll, winning their second conference match on Saturday after losing two non-conference matches at the beginning of the season. Last year's championship squad also lost its first two non-conference games.
On Saturday, the Whitefish girls blew away Corvallis 6-0, with five goals coming after half-time. Carly Lengstorf had two goals, and Whitefish out-shot Corvallis 26-6 at Smith Fields.
"She played well," said assistant coach Elizabeth Pitman. "She had a couple great runs."
The first half was a little shaky, Pitman said, but the girls played well in the second half.
Pitman said Corvallis ran an effective offsides trap in the first half, but the Lady Bulldogs countered that in the second half by making lateral runs.
"We moved the outside midfielders in a little bit," Pitman said of her half-time adjustments.
Pitman credited the Bulldog midfield for creating numerous scoring opportunities.
"They played awesome in the midfield, sending in through-balls," she said.
The same day, the Whitefish JV girls team continued their undefeated streak, beating Corvallis 3-1. Earlier in the week, they shut out Polson, 10-0.
"They've been playing great," said JV coach Lynnwood Fields. "This was by far the best game they've played. They're really improving."
The Lady Bulldogs varsity team will travel to Libby on Saturday to take on the Lady Loggers at 2 p.m.
