Great picnic

| August 21, 2008 11:00 PM

The annual Stumptown Historical Society community picnic on Monday, Aug. 4, was an unbelievable success and an incredible joy.

The "icing on the cake" was the brass players from the Glacier Symphony. Just plain excellent. And their musical instrument "petting zoo" kept scads of children busy.

Likewise, the Whitefish Fire Department provided a unique and new focal point for the picnic. Montana Coffee Traders provided the best coffee in the West.

Special thanks go to Susan, Jan, Jill, Ida, Patti, Mike, Lin, Bill, Flossie, Kevin, Ruth and Buzzie for leadership roles and hard work. Many others helped set up and take down the event — too many to name.

Attendance doubled this year, in the neighborhood of 600. Next year? Betcha we get 1,000.
