The National Weather Service is calling for frigid temperatures and plenty of snowfall over the weekend in the first big winter storm of the year.
Temperatures could dip below zero by Saturday night, with up to eight inches of snow accumulation in the valley possible.
Higher elevations could expect up to 20 inches of total snowfall by the end of the weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning in advance of the winter weather, in effect from 11 p.m. on Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday. The agency o predicting high winds with severely hampered visibility and blowing snow.
Snow should begin to taper off on Saturday night, though strong winds and frigid temperatures are expected through Sunday.
Highs for Sunday and Monday are 0 degrees, with lows reaching down to -13 degrees.
