Bigfork High School’s junior varsity basketball team continued their winning streak last week when they beat Big Sky High School, 53-50.

It wasn’t as close of a game as the final score makes it look though. The Vikes were down 37-15 at the half.

“They weren’t making their shots,” said Bigfork JV coach Jason Hall. “There just wasn’t any hustle.”

Bigfork scored 17 in the third and held Big Sky to just eight.

The fourth quarter treated the Vikes even better. They racked up another 21 points, and the Eagles put up only five.

“They started getting the loose balls and they started scoring,” Hall said.

Sophomore Travis Knoll was the leading scorer for Bigfork with 11. Fellow sophomores Christian Ker and Ben Sandry contributed nine and eight, respectively.

“It was an outstanding game,” said Bigfork boys head basketball coach Lyle Whiteman. “They played with real heart. Everyone that played contributed. They played with real focus, determination and intesity as it came down to the end of the game. For them to come back from being down by 22 at the half showed a lot about them as a team.”
