Ray to play golf for MSU Bobcats

Whitefish High School senior Chelsea Ray has made a verbal commitment to the Montana State Bobcats as a scholarship golf athlete. While the actual signing date is not until April, Ray decided to move forward with the offer from MSU-Bozeman and become a member of the Bobcat golf team next fall.

"She will be a great addition to the Cats' program and will undoubtedly be an outstanding player during her college career," Whitefish High School golf coach Terry Nelson said. "The new Bobcat coach, Leslie Spaulding, brings her years of experience as an LPGA player to the golf program at MSU and will recruit and build a fine program."

Nelson said Ray's best golf is still ahead of her as she spends more time focused on her game and gains even more experience.

Ray joins Paula Nelson and Lyndsie Jensen as Bulldog golfers who signed as scholarship athletes for the MSU golf program.

"Chelsea brings the same talent level to the program as these two former players and should have equal success," Nelson said.

Ray was a four-year All State player for Whitefish and helped lead the girls team to championships over the last two years. She also starts on the Lady Bulldogs basketball team.
