Shirley Hull

Shirley J. Hull, 82, passed away on Jan. 13, 2008, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1926, in Argonia, Kan., to James and Alexa (Hopper) Spearman. Shirley was raised in Pleasant Hill, N.M., where she attended schools and was the valedictorian of her Pleasant Hill High School class. She attended a year of college after high school.

Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for the Santa Cruz City Schools from 1973 until 1980. She also worked for McKessen Robbins Distributing, ONC, and Sandia Labs.

She married Clifford Hull in 1949, in Tulsa, Okla. They were married for 51 years.

Shirley belonged to the African Violet Society, was an active member of the Senior Citizens in Longmont, Colo., and was a member of the Book Club. She was a master gardener, enjoyed reading, traveling, camping, bird watching, needlepoint, sewing and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford; and three brothers, James, Robert and John Spearman.

Shirley is survived by her son James Hulland wife Teresa, of Whitefish; daughters Sharon Hull, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Susan Hull, of Livermore, Calif.; sister Patricia Jane Becker; sister-in-law Pat Spearman; grandchildren Jimmy Hull, Elena Hull, Jason Hull, Trevor Odom, Mike Hull and Alexa Odom; great grandchildren Ian Hull and Natalie Hull, with one on the way; and by many loved and adored nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Shirley's life took place Jan. 19, 2008, at the Whitefish Community Church of God, with the Rev. Justin Michaels officiating.
