Triplett wins bulls at District

Matt Triplett of Columbia Falls was the average champion in bull riding at the Montana High School Rodeo Association District Rodeo last weekend at the Majestic Valley Arena. Triplett had a total score of 134 on two bulls.

Triplett, a sophomore member of the Flathead Valley high school rodeo team, warmed up for district by winning the bull riding title with a score of 71 at the qualifying rodeo on Saturday at the same facility.

Teammate Abbey Johnson was fifth in average in barrel racing at the district rodeo with a combined time of 35.20 seconds. Sarah Ham was ninth in 35.58.

The Flathead Valley high school rodeo team competes in the State Rodeo on June 11-15 in Missoula. The top four finishers in each event qualifies for Nationals in Farmington, N.M., on July 21-26. Those who place fifth through 10th head to the Silver State International Rodeo in Fallon, Nev. on June 30-July 5.
