Drug policy is weak

I'm writing to express my disappointment in the worthless decision the Whitefish School Board made to proceed with voluntary drug-testing.

Regardless of whether a person is in favor of the testing, anyone with a brain has to agree that this policy will be totally useless and a waste of money.

Since the students who are using drugs won't choose to be tested, that leaves the "clean" students to be tested. Exactly what will that prove?

I'll tell you. It proves that the board decided to ride the fence and pretend that they're doing something proactive without actually doing anything. They wimped out and proved that they don't have the intestinal fortitude to address the high school's drug problem.

Frankly, I can respect the board members that openly disagree with the testing more than those who don't have the strength to stand up for what they think will help solve the problem.

How bad does the drug and alcohol problem have to get before the board will actually do something do help the kids?
