The Community College of Spokane announced Monday that Sam Krause, of Whitefish, has signed a letter of intent to play on the school’s men’s golf team.

Krause is a very accomplished golfer and has competed in many regional and national junior tournaments, the school said in a press release.

His golfing honors include a Montana state championship during his junior year. Krause was also the medalist at the Flatfish golf tournament during his senior year with a two-day total of 140 (67-73).

“We feel very fortunate to have signed a player like Sam who has enjoyed a great deal of success on the golf course,” said head coach Scott Kramer. “Along with the five other signees and what will be an experienced group of sophomores returning from this year’s team, the future of Sasquatch golf looks very bright.”

The Sasquatch have taken fourth place the past three years in the Northwest American Association of Community Colleges golf tournament.

They were champions in 2002, 1999 and 1975.
