City limits
In response to Jan Metz-maker's letter of April 17 to the Pilot, I would like to state that this woman in my opinion is a "Mess Maker." How dare you speak to the citizens of this area that way.
We have always chosen to live outside the city limits because of people with attitudes like yours.
We do not patronize any of the facilities you named in your letter, as I am sure many others do not as well. If we need to go into town, we pay our share for groceries or any other purchases we make.
Whose idea was it anyway to make all these things municipally owned? As far as I know, The Wave charges for use, we can't use the boat ramp anymore, and the library is in portion, part of the county.
Now as far as property values go, we are well aware of our value — we see it in the taxes we pay two times a year.
But the end of this letter will be good news, honey. We plan to sell and move to an area where people are kind, we know one another, help one another, respect one another and don't stake a claim on an area that you had no part in building. We've been here for 60-plus years. Can you say that? No, I doubt it, just move in, inflict your ways on us, drive us out and smile.
We will miss what White-fish used to be. But that's kind of like losing a beloved member of the family. The pain goes away eventually. We'll go, and in three months, no one will even miss us. Maybe not even that long. And we leave you to yourselves.
Elaine Gray

P.S. Thank you for the names of several Montana communities that want people like us. Although the way you worded it, it sounds like you're putting them down.
