Proposes traffic solutions

I have been coming to Whitefish since 1993. I have seen it grow from a sleepy resort town to a bustling city.

The traffic on Second Street West (U.S. 93) has gotten worse, of course. Maybe city planners could take a lesson from some of the larger cities in the U.S.

For example, in Houston in congested neighborhoods, the stop lights are green for only one direction at a time. This allows all traffic in that direction to go straight, turn right or left without having to wait on cars coming from the opposite direction. Of course, at those intersections there are signs that say "No Right on Red."

Having these lights along Second Street West and at Spokane Avenue, in my opinion, would move traffic through town quicker and with less congestion as long as the lights are synchronized.

Currently, it may take two or more lights to turn left regardless of which direction you are heading. Just a thought from a "city slicker."
