Tom Shupert

Tom Kenneth Shupert, 62 went peacefully on Aug. 27, 2008 after a short battle with cancer.

He was born in Whitefish on June 10, 1946, to Glen and Ruby (Lytle) Shupert.

Tom grew up in Whitefish and served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1968 during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged and earned a Purple Heart for Bravery.

In 1965, Tom married Toni Boucher. In that marriage, Tom and Toni had three daughters. They later divorced. Tom married Karen Sue Baucom in 1975 and together they had one daughter. They later divorced but remained special friends until the end.

Tom was a true Montana man. He loved the peacefulness and solitude of the mountains. His favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting and camping, and he especially loved the annual huckleberry trip with his siblings.

Tom is very loved and will be missed dearly by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry and Mike, and nephew Christopher.

Survivors include daughters Kim Austin, of Havre, Kathy Peterson and husband Mike, of Havre, Karen Wellcome and husband Clint, of Kalispell, and Carrie Westwood and husband Rex, of Kalispell; brothers Richard Shupert, of Cle Elum, Wash., and Dan Shupert, of Kalispell; sister Sue Porter, of Kalispell; six grandsons; one granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service was held Aug. 31, 2008, at the Trego community hall.
