Logan Arnst

Logan Daniel Arnst, 16, left this world on Sept. 5, 2008, although his gift remains. Words seem minimal to express his life.

This world was gifted Logan on June 28, 1992, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, the son of David and Teri Arnst, of Whitefish.

Logan was starting his junior year at Whitefish High School as vice president of the class of 2010. He enjoyed working at Mambo Italiano and was hoping to move up to "the guy who throws the pizza crust."

He was a proud member of Boy Scout Troup 17. He achieved Life and was working on Eagle. For his Eagle project, Logan developed a recycling program for North Valley Hospital. He enjoyed being a leader for the younger scouts. He also volunteered at North Valley Food Bank, in Whitefish.

Logan's joys in life were his family and friends. He liked going to movies, hanging with friends, eating, playing hacky sack at the park, camping, swimming, scuba diving, mountain biking, reading and playing X-Box. He was always cracking jokes and was a "pretty chill dude."

He was confirmed into the United Methodist Church of Whitefish this summer, where he was very active in the youth group.

Logan's friends truly became an extension of his family. Words cannot express the impact this young man had on those he touched. His kind, caring, genuine-loving being was felt by all who met him.

He was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Janis Rice.

He is survived by his parents, David and Teri Arnst; grandfather Rudy Rice; grandmothers Debra Arnst and Shelly Cooper; step-sister Alex Arnst; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Footprints of Logan's love will be in all our hearts forever.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Logan's life at the United Methodist Church in Whitefish on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held outside, weather permitting.

Gary Davis

Gary Anthony Davis, 71, peacefully passed away from cancer, surrounded by his loving family, at his Whitefish ranch on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008.

He was born March 13, 1937, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Don Clar Davis and Elizabeth Margaret (Anthony) Davis, the eldest of 13 children.

Gary attended St. Mary's and St. Patrick's Grade Schools, and Catholic Central High School, in Ottumwa. He received his GED in Denver.

He enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard Artillery Unit on March 22, 1954. He was awarded the Sharpshooter Submachine Gun Medal. He served three years, being honorably discharged on March 21, 1957.

On July 16, 1955, Gary married his sweetheart, Karen Caviness, in Ottumwa. They raised four children, two boys and two girls. While in Ottumwa, Gary was employed by Lowenburg Bakery, Davis DX Service Station, Wormhoudt Lumber and Sutherland Lumber.

After moving to Denver, in 1960, he was employed by Kellogg Lumber Co., for 23 years. He worked his way from yard manager to general manager of the company.

After the death of his daughter, Lisa, in 1982, he went into business for himself as a transportation analyst. In 2003, Gary and Karen joined other members of their family in Northwest Montana, where Home Depot employed Gary until the summer of 2006 when he retired.

Gary was a family man, loving husband and father. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, family activities, hunting, target shooting and talking "guns" with his brothers at John's gun shop.

He was a great jokester and loved making everyone laugh. He was loved and respected by those who knew him.

Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa; father Donald C. Davis; brother Donald M. Davis; and nephew Jacob Davis.

Gary is survived by his wife, Karen, of Whitefish; sons Doug Davis and wife Susan, of Kalispell, and Terry Davis, of Columbia Falls; daughter Kim Wides and husband Aaron, of Columbia Falls; mother Elizabeth Davis, of Whitefish; brothers David Davis and wife Sue, of Kalispell, Bernard Davis, of Denver, John Davis and wife Terri, of Coram, Thomas Davis and wife Bonnie, of Columbia Falls, Michael Davis and wife Susie, of Columbia Falls, and Dennis Davis, of Missoula, sisters Donna Graham and husband Monty, of Columbia Falls, Mary Ogden and husband Mike, of Columbia Falls, Linda Stonner and husband Jeff, of Denver, Anna Marie Pettinger and husband Ed, of Denver, and Jeanne Darling, of Columbia Falls; eight grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sept. 9, 2008, at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Columbia Falls, with burial at St. Richard's Catholic Cemetery.

Lorraine Patton

Lorraine A. Patton, of Ocean Shores, Wash., "was accepted by the Lord" on Sept. 3, 2008.

She was born Sept. 14, 1933, near Flaxville to Lawrence and Adelaide Paradis

Lorraine spent her adolescent years with her parents in Whitefish, along with her siblings Emil, Leonard, Lawrence "Red," Willie, Della and Mina and her surviving sisters Rosanne Howell and Delaine Sutton.

At Whitefish High School, Lorraine met and was won over by Don R. Patton. After her graduation in 1952, they married and moved to Seattle, where Don was working for Boeing.

Don's job at Boeing resulted in their moving around the Midwest for most of the 40 years of his employment. In spite of the many relocations, this was a wonderful time for Lorraine and family, with many lifelong memories and friendships formed. After Don's retirement, they made one last relocation to Ocean Shores.

Lorraine's passions were family reunions, travel, gardening, antiques, decorating, jigsaw puzzles and her favorite soap opera, always in the mix. She will be remembered by all for her quick smile and selfless heart. While missing her greatly, her family and friends celebrate her life and know she is now at peace.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Patton, and their five children, Mike, Dirk, Tina, Donn Bradley and Lisa."

There will not be a formal service locally, so in remembrance, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's association or a favorite charity.

Florence Sirianni

Florence Elizabeth (Webber) Sirianni passed away Sept. 1, 2008, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center at the age of 77.

She was born Dec. 13, 1930, to Austin and Iris (Tripp) Knapp in Miles City.

Her family lived at various places across southern Montana until they moved to the town of Olney, where she met and married George Webber in 1946. Their marriage ended in 1976.

She then married Joseph Sirianni, of Fernie, B.C. When Joe died in 2007, Florence moved to Eureka and lived with her daughter until May 2008, when she moved to Heritage Place in Kalispell.

Florence completed eighth grade in regular schools and then returned to Flathead Valley Community College to complete her GED in 1973. She worked in Whitefish Hospital as a nurse's aide from the late 1950s until 1972. She then worked as a desk clerk at the Cadillac and Kalispell hotels until 1976, when she moved to Fernie.

She was a member of Rebekahs for more than 40 years, an advisor for Theta Rho, a Girl Scout leader and a member of Eagles. She liked crocheting, playing cards, dancing and jig saw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters Dorothy Camp, Bessie Pahrman, Irene Poe and Betty Lou Vick; and brother Joseph "Bud" Knapp.

Florence is survived by brother Russell Knapp and wife Betty, of Virginia; daughters Mary Stevens, of Kalispell, Shirley Riebe and husband Arland, of Kila, and Linda Setzer, of Eureka; son Stan Webber and wife Charlene, of Kalispell; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friend Cindy Hutchinson, of Fernie, B.C.

A private burial was held at Whitefish Cemetery. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
