Marie Antonsen, 93
Marie Antonsen, age 93, of Bigfork, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Lakeview Care Center in Bigfork, Montana. She was born on August 14, 1915 in Denmark.
She came to the United States in 1952 and settled in Altadena, California. Marie spent her early years in Denmark as a chef and continued throughout her life cooking Scandanavian food to everyone's delight. Her most endearing quality was her ability to laugh and bring joy to all who knew her. She moved to Bigfork in 1996 from Truckee, California and truly loved Montana.
She is survived by her husband Mogens Antonsen of Kalispell, MT; a daughter Jytte Hartwell and husband Dan of Bigfork, MT and a son John Antonsen and wife Elenie of Carson City, NV; grandsons Michael Hartwell and wife Chris of Reno, NV and Erik Hartwell and wife Audrey of Denver, CO and two great grandchildren, Shawn and Alyssa Hartwell of Reno, NV.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 3, at 3 P.M. at the Bigfork Community Cemetery. Johnson - Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Marie's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to offer condolences and sign Marie's guest book.
Richard "Lee" Winters, 91
Richard "Lee" Winters, 91, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Lee, one of seven children, was born in College Station, TX on October 7, 1916 to N.E. and Ethel Winters. He was raised in Argentina as a young man and finished high school and college in Stillwater, OK. He married Mary "Libby" Swaim on June 5, 1935. Lee and Libby had three children and moved to Wyoming in 1940 after graduating from Oklahoma State in Agricultural Engineering. Lee worked for the CCC Corps and the Soil Conservation Service in several Wyoming locations. He joined the Army Air Corps shortly after the war started in 1942. Lee and family moved to Kalispell, MT in 1946 where he worked on the Hungry Horse Dam. In 1952 Lee began a career with the foreign service building dams and irrigation projects in Chile, Haiti, Tunisia, and Equador. In 1971 Lee and Libby retired to Big Fork, MT where he became very active in civic affairs and the Masons. In 2001 he was elected to the Montana Masonic Hall of Fame in recognition for his outstanding services to the many charities in the Big Fork area. Lee enjoyed dancing with Libby, fishing, and hunting.
Lee is survived by his wife, Libby, of seventy-three years; his sister, Ann Schlack of Baton Rouge, LA, daughter Judy of Alexandria, VA, one son, Al, of Story, WY, and his daughter-in-law, Janice Winters of Midwest City, OK, his eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements were made with Kane Funeral Home. A viewing was held at Kane Funeral Home on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
