Steve Myers

Steve Myers, 50, passed away Sept. 15, 2008, at his home in Columbia Falls.

He was born on June 15, 1958 in Washington, Ind., and resided in Odon, Ind., until he moved to this area several years ago.

Steve was a licensed barber. He worked for his good friend and mentor Clark 'smitty' Smith, who taught him the heavy equipment and teamster trades. He went to work for Plum Creek Lumber in Evergreen where he worked for four years. He joined the Operating Engineers Union Local No. 400 and went to work for Schellinger Construction where he was currently employed.

He was an active member of the North Valley Eagle Aerie No. 4081 in Columbia Falls and was the current conductor of the Aerie. He enjoyed working on old cars and rebuilding Harley motorcycles. He liked biking with his friends and wife, Jenny.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jenny, of Columbia Falls; parents Bob and Connie Myers; brothers Dave and Jeff; and sister Tammy, all of Indiana; daughter Whitney and husband Dave Petersen; granddaughter Alanis; and step-children Dennis and Siehra, all from the Flathead Valley.

"A celebration of life" was held at the North Valley Eagles Club on Sept. 21.

Cremation has taken place.

Donna Fletcher

Donna Rae Fletcher, 61, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Sept. 18, 2008. After a heroic battle with cancer, Donna passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born May 1, 1947, to Perry and Carma Keller in Hurricane, Utah. The family soon moved to Montana where Donna spent most of her life. Donna grew up in the Kalispell area. She was a cheerleader in Columbia Falls and graduated from Flathead County High School in Kalispell. In 1968 Donna met and fell in love with Wayne Fletcher. They were married on Aug. 9, 1968, in Sheridan. Donna gave birth to beautiful twin daughters, Sharon and Karen, in 1970 and 10 years later was blessed with another beautiful daughter, Samantha.

She was devoted to her family. Wayne's career required almost yearly moves, and the family moved from town to town all over the state of Montana. The family settled in Helena, where Donna lived for 15 years. Wayne's career took the couple on new adventures and over the next 11 years, Donna lived in Nevada, Ohio, Colorado, Georgia and Utah. They retired in St. George, Utah to be close to her family.

Donna's family was the most important thing in her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her nine grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and often spent time giggling with her two sisters. She was proud of her daughters and always put them first in her life.

Donna was a kind and beautiful person. Everyone who knew her loved her. She will be greatly missed. Donna is survived by her husband, Wayne, of St. George; her three daughters, Sharon (Charlie) Jarvis of Mesquite Nev., Karen (Mads) Hughes of Logandale, Nev., and Samantha (Remo) Mills of Lehi, Utah. She is also survived by her parents, Perry and Carma Keller, of St. George; two sisters; two brothers; and nine grandchildren.

Lois Burrell

Lois Fern Burrell, 84, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at the Brendan House in Kalispell. She was born on Jan. 12, 1924 in Pablo, to Levi and Lois (Freeman) Gleason.

She attended grade school at Ashley Creek and graduated from Flathead High School in Kalispell. She married Gerald F. Burrell on Oct. 3, 1945. They lived in Baltimore, Md., for six years, where Kathleen was born, then moved back to Kalispell where the next three children were born, daughter Sharen, son Daniel and daughter Nancy.

Lois enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, camping, fishing, gardening and especially rummage sales with her best friend, Eunice. She attended the Nazarene Church.

Even through all her pain, she still had her smile and her sense of humor.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Alvin "Rod" Gleason; sister Vivian, and her twin sister, Doris; her daughter, Kathleen Wendland; and grandson Jered Snook.

She is survived by her three children, Sharen Weaver and husband Ken of Columbia Falls; Daniel Burrell of Billings; Nancy Snook and husband Craig of Evansville, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris, Jeff, Nathan, Kelsey, Brian and Leah; and seven great grandchildren, Nicholas, Emma, Jenna, Patrick, Dillon, Aubrey and Jaden.

Memorial services for Lois were held Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Johnson " Gloschat Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Holmquist officiating. A fellowship luncheon followed at the Kalispell Nazarene Church.

Joe Herron

Joe Herron, 78, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Libby Care Center in Libby. He was born Dec. 1, 1929, in the Flathead Valley and raised as a child in the immediate area. At the age of 23, he married Dorris Hearn on Feb. 11, 1952. They had three children " Bob, Joe and Gary. Dorris passed away Oct. 5, 1970. On June 9, 1971, Joe married Nancy Bouma. They had two children " John and Bertha. In August 1995, Joe married his third wife, Delores Hoerner. They had no children. On March 31, 2004, Delores passed away.

During his life, Joe cleared trees for Hungry Horse Reservoir and Libby Dam. He helped build the Trego Tunnel and then began working for the Montana State Highway Department at Olney, and then at Marias Pass. After holding a foreman position for many years he retired from the state and moved to Choteau where he purchased a restaurant. Joe then moved back to the Flathead and went to work for Stoltz Land and Lumber where he retired at the age of 64. Through the years, his hobbies were hunting, fishing, picking huckleberries and talking on the CB. Glacier Snowflake was his call name, talking to truckers was his game. Joe included his family in these hobbies. He loved family gatherings and social events. He raised his family reading the Bible to them and they rarely missed a Sunday at church. Now he will never miss a moment of worship as he is present with Christ. Absent from our presence, he will surely be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a son, Bob.

Survivors include his children, Joe Herron and wife, Luci of Columbia Falls; John Herron and wife, Lisa of Cass Lake, Minn.; Bertha Herron; and Gary Herron and wife, Jeanne of Trego; sister-in-law Florence Herron of Whitefish; 17 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday Aug. 30, 2008 at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka. Local arrangements were by Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home of Eureka.

Eugene Edward Havens

Eugene Edward Havens, 86, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, Montana. He was born on April 22, 1922 in Kalispell, Montana the son of Armon and Lilly (Bigelow) Havens.

He attended schools in Essex and Kalispell and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1939. After high school he served in the U.S. Army as part of the Alaska Defense Command from 1942 until his discharge in 1945. On August 29, 1942 he married Beatrice M. Nelson at Coeur d"Alene, Idaho. He became an electrician after World War II, and worked on the Hungry Horse Dam, Libby Dam, Nuclear Power Plant at Hanford, Wash., and the Coal Strip generators 3 and 4. He became a Master Electrician and worked for Miller"Ford Electric from 1960 until 1980. He continued to work as an electrician until his retirement in 1984.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Elks, Eagles and the Electrical Workers Union.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice in July of 2008, his brothers, Allen and Paul Havens and his parents, Lilly Bigelow Havens and Armon E. Havens.

He is survived by his two children; one son, Gary Havens and wife Lynn of Kalispell; one daughter, Anna Marie Brown and husband Mark of Pocatello, Idaho; four grandchildren and their families; Brett Havens and wife Cindy and their two daughters of Bothell, Wash.; Jeff Brown and wife Barb and their daughter and son of Butte; Jason Brown and wife Amanda of Pocatello, Idaho, and Rory Brown and wife Sonya and their son of Bozeman.

Memorial services for Eugene will be private by the family. There will be no visitation.

Janice Schaberg

Janice Marie Schaberg (Shamp, Olsen), 59, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 20, 2008.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life in Missoula on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Discovery Alliance Church, 5475 Trumpeter Way. A potluck reception/lunch will follow.
