Whitefish motel robbed

| April 14, 2009 11:00 PM

A man who escaped on motorcycle robbed the Holiday Inn Express on the U.S. 93 strip in Whitefish about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7.

According to Whitefish police, the man brandished a weapon and demanded the money from the till. The weapon was not a gun, knife or club.

The employee at the front desk is Filipino, and English is his second language, so details are still emerging.

The man, who so far is described as in his 30s or 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches to six feet tall, with red curly hair, left on a black Japanese “crotch rocket” style motorcyle that was parked in front.

The thief made off with an undisclosed amount of money. Nobody was injured, and investigators believe no guests or other employees were in the lobby at the time of the robbery.

Chief Bill Dial said investigators have leads on a possible suspect. Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to contact the Whitefish police at 863-2420
