Alice Rock-Shero
Alice "Pete" Rock-Shero, 86, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009, at her home in Columbia Falls.
She was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Whitefish, the daughter of Sylvester "Red" and Mary Rock.
Alice was raised in Whitefish and was a 1942 graduate of Whitefish High School. She attended Teachers College in Cheney, Wash.
She enlisted in the U. S. Navy Waves as a shore patrolman in Honolulu, Hawaii, during World War II. After serving her country for 18 months, she returned home to marry her childhood sweetheart, Budd L. Shero, on Jan. 18, 1947, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Budd and their son, Stanley, preceded Alice in death.
Alice is survived by her brother, Robert Rock of Portland, Ore.; her sister, Margaret Rupp of Whitefish; daughters, Charlotte Enquist Moran of Hungry Horse, Darlene "Dot" Klem-Graham of Hungry Horse, and Penny Filler of Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the military section of the Whitefish Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m., Friday, April 17 with military graveside honors.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the celebration of her life at the Whitefish V.F.W. directly after the service.
