Voice of the Bulldogs

| April 16, 2009 11:00 PM

Randy Dawdy was the voice of the Bulldogs at baseball, football and basketball games for close to 30 years, and now he is facing his own challenge.

Randy, a custodian at Whitefish High School for 16 years, suffered from a heart attack and kidney failure in February and has been unable to work.

He is receiving dialysis treatments in Kalispell three days a week.

If you would like to show your support to Randy, you can send get-well cards to Whitefish High School, 600 East Seconnd Street, Whitefish MT 59937.

Thanks Whitefish.

Fined for littering

My high school daughter was at lunch by depot park the other day and threw out a piece of bagel with the intention of feeding the birds and she received a citation for littering.

She’s a high schooler. I’m sure if she intended to litter, she had plenty of garbage in her car that she could have thrown out. Just take a drive by the high school parking lot and this is evident.

We went to court and she was fined $100 for throwing out a piece of biodegradable food. I noticed in the police reports that those who run stop signs or are speeding only receive fines of $50 to $85.

So, this is a warning to all people who take their children to feed the ducks at the park. If you drop a piece of bread or crackers on the ground, you are littering. You may be fined $100.

Beware as you walk back to your car that you don’t step in any of the 100s of poop piles, and then as you’re crossing the street that someone speeding may run the stop sign and hit you.

After all, what’s more important, feeding the birds or endangering someone’s life? The city of Whitefish makes it loud and clear, don’t they?
