I am voting for Barb Miller for a Lakeside Community Council seat on May 5 and I hope you will too!
I have been working with Barb over the last 18 months on the Lakeside Neighborhood Plan Committee and by observing Barb and her commitment to "getting the job done and doing it right," I can think of no other person more fit for a position on the Lakeside Community Council.
Barb is a very organized, intelligent and thoughtful person. She is able to think "outside the box" and she is not afraid to address tough obstacles and ask the right questions. She won't back down until she gets the right answers, too!
I know that Barb's heart is in the right place. She loves the Lakeside community and she doesn't want to see our town destroyed by development without planning. Barb has the expertise and life experience (30 years as project manager for a fortune 100 company) to make a difference on the Lakeside Community Council…she can really make an impact in organization and communications, and if you know Barb, you know she will!

Vote Miller, Part II
Over the course of the past 1 1/2 years I have had the good fortune to work on the Revision of the Lakeside Neighborhood Plan with Barb Miller. It has now come to my attention that she is running for an open seat on the Lakeside Community Council and I feel there are a few things I would like to share with you about Barb. Barb is a hardworking, intelligent, driven and organized individual whose ethics and integrity are second to none. With her vast experience in computers and software technology she will be an absolute priceless addition to the Council. She is personally involved and dedicated to helping Lakeside be a community we are all proud to call home. She will be a tremendous asset to the Council and more importantly to the Community of Lakeside. A vote for Barb Miller will help ensure the vision we have of Lakeside will be protected and a treasure that we pass on to our children.

The community has spoken
The proposed Park being donated on the lakefront in Lakeside is an answer to many pleas for more easily accessible public lake access. Having worked with the Lakeside Neighborhood Plan Committee for almost two years now, I have seen the community's desire for more open space, parks and public access to the lake expressed overwhelmingly. The 2008 Lakeside Community Survey results:
- 72 percent of respondents said parking for any lake access was inadequate (the proposed park will have associated parking)
- 82 percent of respondents said additional open space and parks are needed
- Lake access ranked 2nd highest in importance to Lakeside residents and property owners
- Open space and parks ranked 19th out of 20 features of Lakeside in terms of satisfaction - the community wants more lake access.
To negate this park for a "not in my back yard" attitude of a very few would be a huge disappointment to the community as a whole.

We are so lucky to have a chance for a new park in Lakeside as Flathead lake shore is mostly private. The donation of land should never be wasted because the future generations will thank us for thinking ahead. A big THANK YOU to the Davis Family! Let's rally in favor of this new park!

I hope everyone is as disgusted as I am with the butchery that has taken place on Highway 93 between Somers and Lakeside. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done legally to correct this blight on our neighborhood. However, there is still something that we as a community can do. While the property owners have the legal right to do with their property whatever they please, we do not have to support them financially.
I strongly urge every resident of our area to join me in boycotting the rental facility now being developed just north of Deer Creek Road. A boycott is a very simple yet effective way to demonstrate to Mr. and Mrs. Koeller that their utter lack of consideration for the neighbors may not have been in their own best interests.
As much as I would like to store my own boat closer to home over the winter, I will not financially support the rape of our community. My boat will spend its winter months in a boat yard outside of Kalispell. It may cost me a few dollars extra in transportation to store it there, but at least I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I have not contributed to this disgrace. Between what is currently in operation in downtown Lakeside, and the rental units on Highway 82, there are more than enough storage spaces available without supporting this.
Unfortunately, the forest cannot be returned to beauty and wildlife habitat that was there just a few weeks ago. The economic impact of a boycott will send a clear message to the Koellers about precisely how others see their project. Whether it is on Wall Street, or in Lakeside, Montana, greed is not becoming to anyone.
As repugnant as it may be to some, the word zoning is about the only approach that can be used to prevent further obscenities like this from occurring.
