Lady Bulldog tracksters win Libby Invite
The Whitefish girls track team captured the overall team title at the Libby Invitational track meet on April 25 by a comfortable margin.
The Lady Bulldogs racked up 143 points, while Columbia Falls came in second at 112. Seven other schools competed in the event.
Amanda Foley took first in the 200-meter dash, followed by teammate Heather Melcer. Foley also came in second in the 100 meters.
Jackie Cassidy took first in the 1,600, with Loni Hanson in right behind. Cassidy and Hanson also took first and second respectively in the 3,200.
Olivia Nagler took first in the discus and fourth in the javelin, while Brazilian exchange-student Paula Oliveira placed second in the shot put. Lexi Day took second in the pole vault.
The Whitefish boys captured second place in Libby with 114 points, behind Columbia Falls with 154.
Drew Coco won the 1,600 and 3,200. Dalton Rice took second in the 400-meter dash, with Jake Danczyk in fourth.
Aaron Tkachyk won the long jump, with Willie Roche in a close second.
Seth Wiley took second in both the 110 and 300 hurdles, while his brother Sam took fifth in the 300.
Andy Erickson took second in the pole vault, with Sam Wiley in fifth place and Quintyn Menegazzi in sixth.
The Whitefish track teams competed against Glacier High School earlier on April 21.
Becca Strellnauer took first in the 400-meter dash, while Natalie Kerns won the high jump.
Melcer won the triple jump, and Nagler took first in the discus. Megan Apple took first in the 100-meter hurdles.
On the boys side, Coco won the 3,200 and Anto Daoud won the 100, while Seth Wiley took first in the 300 hurdles and Dusty Beck took first in the javelin.
The annual Whitefish A.R.M. track meet will take place this Saturday, with more than 15 Montana schools expected to compete.
Next Tuesday, Whitefish hosts the annual Ken Good meet at 3 p.m. at the Whitefish High School track .
