BHS gets new football scoreboard
Bigfork EagleJust in time for the new school year Bigfork High School had a new scoreboard installed on their football field to replace the one that was destroyed in a windstorm at the end of April.
The original board was donated by Coca-Cola about five years ago as part of a contract with the school, according to BHS Activities Director Matt Porrovecchio. At the time that was a common gesture among beverage companies, but that is no longer the case. The board was insured by Western States Insurance and had a $1,000 deductible.
The school used money from the district office's general fund to pay the deductible and purchase the new board from Red Rock Sporting Goods in Miles City. It is made by Daktronics and has LED lights which are brighter and last longer than the ones in the old board while using less enrgy.
The scoreboards in the BHS gym will also be replaced for the 2009-2010 season. One of the boards stopped working part way through basketball season last year and new ones were purchased but have yet to be installed.
