WEB UPDATE: Vals drop Plains, Vikes fall in OT
The Vals hosted Plains High School Thursday night and showed just how well they will perform in Class B next year, beating the Trotters 67-38.
Bigfork's varsity girls were strong and steady throughout the game. Freshman Taylor Peck and senior Roxy Thurman led the Vals in the first quarter, scoring five and four points, respectively, of the team's 13, while Plains put up just eight points. Sophomore Mallery Knoll exploded in the second quarter, putting up 11 points to help Bigfork outscore the Trotters 20-6 in the second. The Vals put up another 19 in the third quarter and 15 in the fourth, while Plains put up 12 in each of the final two periods.
Bigfork's junior varsity and freshman girls teams swept Plains as well. The JV won 33-17 and the freshman beat the Trotters 29-24.
Boys fall to Plains
The varsity boys did not fair as well while on the road Thursday night in Plains, losing 51-43 after being outscored 8-0 in overtime.
Bigfork led 8-7 at the end of the first quarter, but was outscored 17-9 in the second. The Vikes made a comeback in the third, putting up 15 points, and holding the Horsemen to seven. In the fourth quarter Bigfork and Plains scored 11 and 12, respectively, to send the game into overtime, in which Plains did all the scoring, with eight points for the win.
Brock Boll led the Vikings with 14 points and Donny Tudahl added 10.
The JV and freshmen boys teams both came back from the road trip with wins. The JV rolled over Plains with a 61-35 victory and the freshman won 54-32.
