Craig Finberg battling pancreatic cancer
Craig Finberg is in Zion, Ill., for his first week of chemotherapy for treatment of pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed in late January.
Finberg, who is a school teacher and college basketball assistant coach in Dillon, is a 1975 graduate of Columbia Falls High School. His brother, Cary, is boys head coach in Columbia Falls.
Cary Finberg said Monday (Feb. 9) that his brother has been diagnosed with the most aggressive type of cancer. He will undergo five days of treatment this week, beginning Tuesday, with two types of chemotherapy featuring four different drugs.
The best news for the Finberg family is that Craig’s cancer has not spread to his bones or lungs, according to Cary. And that gives doctors a more optimistic outlook.
After the first five days of chemo, Craig and his wife Tammy will return to Dillon for about two weeks. Then they go back to Zion for another series of treatments.
An account has been set up at Glacier Bank in Columbia Falls for anyone who would like to make a donation to help with Craig Finberg’s medical expenses. Make checks payable to Craig or Tammy Finberg.
