Columbia Falls girls, Whitefish boys post wins
Columbia Falls used an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter and earned a 35-20 girls basketball victory over rival Whitefish on Friday night on Larry Schmautz Memorial Court at CFHS. That moves the Wildkats, who are 7-1 in the Northwestern A Conference, to within one win of locking up the top seed in the divisional tournament Feb. 26-28 in Kalispell. Alyssa Ladenburg led the Kats with 11 points. Whitefish, which played without two starters, was paced by Kate Klundt's 10 points.
Whitefish won the boys game Friday at CFHS, rallying from a 10-point second-period deficit to record a 61-58 league win. Whitefish was 16-for-18 from the free throw line. It was the 11th straight victory for the Bulldogs, whose Northwestern A Conference mark goes to 7-2. Whitefish will have one of the two byes in the divisional tournament. Colt Idol led the Bulldogs with 24 points and Josh Backer added 11. Mackey Nolan paced the Wildcats with 12 points, and Kyle Howell added 11.
