Sustainable living

In keeping with our purpose to build community, live sustainable, preserve and cultivate local resources, and encourage discussion on issues such as: Surviving potential shortages, preparing and eating healthful foods, and minimizing our ecological footprint through implementation of permaculture principles, the Essential Stuff Project (ESP) has been hosting gatherings in Bigfork to share information. We have attempted to focus on topics that have been identified as “essential.”

The topic of our next gathering may not be as “essential” to some, but perhaps very “essential” to others. Keith Blaylock will share some of his knowledge about brewing beer at home. This gathering promises to be very interesting and enjoyable. Those who attend will learn about local sources of ingredients and hardware necessary to be able to produce their own home brew.

The gathering will happen at Clementine’s, 265 Bridge Street, in Bigfork, February 25 at 7 p.m. There is no charge, but voluntary contributions to pay for the space rental will be appreciated. Anyone who would like more information about this gathering can contact Edd Blackler (blackler@acrossmontana.net or 837-5196) or Catherine Haug (cmhaug4@earthlink.net or 837-4577).
