WEB UPDATE: Vikes, Vals beat Flathead

The Bigfork Valkyries varsity basketball team dropped the Flathead High School Bravettes Thursday night 53-41.

Bigfork took the lead early on against the Class AA Kalispell team, and never let up. The Vals outscored Flathead every quarter and led 20-16 at the half.

Kailey Fierro led the Vals in scoring with 14, 10 of which she put up in the second half. Roxy Thurman contributed 12 points, 10 of which she also got in the second half, including a pair of 3-pointers. Mallery Knoll was Bigfork’s leading rebounder with five and she added six points. Signa McLeod helped the team to an early lead, scoring six of her seven points in the first quarter.

Flathead’s Kelsey Hildal was the high scorer for the game with 19 points, 13 of which she picked up in the fourth quarter.

The Bigfork High School junior varsity girls lost 49-32 to Flathead.

Kate Lamm was the leading JV scorer for the Vals with 10, and Caitlin Charlebois contributed eight.

The freshman Vals lost as well to Flathead, 46-32.

Lamm led the freshman team as well, with eight points and McKinze Shults added six.

The BHS varsity boys got their first win of the season, beating Flathead High School 60-55.

The varsity team wrapped up a sweep of wins for the Bigfork boys basketball program Thursday night in Kalispell. The JV Vikes won 70-59 and the freshman won 55-49.
