The Whitefish High School Hall of Fame will grow by four new members when Mike Bauer, Graver Johnson, Ted Lund and Lokie McKeen are inducted on Jan. 31.

Bauer was a three-year letter-winner as a team captain in basketball and football, as well as a one-year letter-winner in track and tennis. He was also a state champion in the shot put.

Bauer represented Montana on the Down Under All-Star football team. He went on to play football at the University of Montana and played basketball at Western Montana College.

Graver Johnson holds the Whitefish High School record as the all-time leading receiver in football with 1,178 yards. He played football for the Montana State University Bobcats for three years.

In 1989, Johnson was the basketball divisional tournament MVP, a member of the state-champion 4-by-400 relay team and state champion in the 400-meter dash.

Ted Lund has lived in Whitefish since the ‘40s. He is known as one of Whitefish’s most ardent supporters. He attends every home sporting event and cheered on the football team during their run to the 1980 state championship.

Lund served in the Army for four years and the Army Reserve for 20 years. He was the 1966 Winter Carnival King and the Grand Marshall for the 2005 Winter Carnival Parade.

Lokie McKeen in 1929 became the third athlete in Whitefish history to letter in three sports in one year — football, basketball and track.

McKeen was the javelin and high jump state champion that year, tying the district record in the high jump. He was part of the state championship track team in 1930. He also punted barefoot for the football team, averaging more than 40 yards per kick, and went on to be a captain of the Hamline University football team.

The induction ceremony will take place at the Whitefish High School gym during the boys basketball game against Libby on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.

A reception, with light appetizers, will follow at the Whitefish Lake Restaurant. All family, friends and current Hall of Fame members are welcome.
