10U posts 1-3 mark in Lindsley tourney
Getting off to a rough start, the Columbia Falls 10U all-stars recovered for a win over Corvallis in the Dick Lindsley Tournament last weekend at the Talbott Road complex, but fell short in three other games.
Polson came out swinging in the tourney opener, rolling to a 16-4 win over C-Falls on Friday.
"We didn't come ready to play," 10U head coach Trevor Kjensrud said. "We just didn't hit the ball."
Playing back-to-back, the C-Falls all-stars outscored Corvallis 11-7.
On Saturday, the eventual tournament champion Bitterroot Rockies blasted C-Falls, 14-2, in four innings. Kjensrud said the Rockies are a very good traveling all-star team made up of players from throughout the Bittterroot Valley.
C-Falls was nipped by the Missoula Bombers 3-2 in single-elimination bracket play later Saturday. The Bombers scored all their runs in the third inning.
"That's the team's best (game) so far this year," Kjensrud said. "The pitching was phenomenal."
Dakota Bridwell started on the mound and pitched three innings. Wyatt Green tossed the fourth and fifth.
"We hit the ball every inning," Kjensrud said. "We couldn't get the hit to put us over the top."
C-Falls scored runs in the second and fourth frames.
Bitterroot blanked Whitefish 4-0 in the tourney's championship game.
The 10U all-stars play in the Fourth of July Invitational this weekend in Helena.
