Triplett focused on national bull riding title

| July 23, 2009 11:00 PM

Matt Triplett of Columbia Falls stood solidly in second place after the first round of bull riding at the National High School Rodeo Association Finals this week in Farmington, N.M.

Triplett scored a 79 on his draw in the first performance Sunday night. Only Chase Outlaw of Tilly, Ark., had a better score in the first round — an 81.

Triplett waits until Saturday for his ride in the second round. He will be the last bull rider to leave the chutes Saturday morning to wrap up the round. A qualified ride Saturday will assure Triplett of a berth in the championship round Saturday night.
