Raymond Murphy

Raymond Dennis Murphy, 72, of Plains passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009, following a motor vehicle accident. He was born Oct. 15, 1937, in Great Falls to Evelyn and Lee Murphy.

Ray served his country in the Marine Corps, and then attended college at the University of Southern California and the University of Montana, graduating with a degree in geology. He met and married Lee McGill in 1967. They had two daughters and resided in California for seven years before returning to Montana.

He was a unique individual, respected by those who knew him for his integrity and wry sense of humor.

Ray is survived by his wife, Lee, of Plains; two daughters, Laura Murphy of New York and Sandra Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz.; and brother Michael Murphy of Columbia Falls.

A remembrance day for Ray will be held at their home in Plains on Thursday, July 30, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please contact the family for directions. The family prefers that flowers not be sent, but cards are welcome and may be posted to P.O. Box 1704, Plains, MT 59859.
