A Somers man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly shooting his son in the stomach during a disturbance at the family's home in the 600 block of Somers Road.

Timothy Withrow, 52, is being held in the county jail pending formal charges from the Flathead County Attorney's Office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to Withrow's home about noon Tuesday after he called 911 to report he had shot his 18-year-old son during an altercation of some kind.

The victim — whose name has not been released — was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, according to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.

After the shooting, detectives took Withrow into custody for questioning and later arrested him.

Authorities declined Tuesday to release further information about the ongoing investigation.
