NEW YORK - Mike Pelfrey has tendinitis in his pitching forearm that could cause the New York Mets right-hander to miss his next scheduled start.

After struggling through his first two outings this season, Pelfrey had an MRI exam Tuesday.

Mets manager Jerry Manuel said Wednesday that the team plans to let Pelfrey rest for a couple of days before deciding whether to start him Sunday against Milwaukee.

Pushed past 200 innings during his first full major league season last year, the 25-year-old Pelfrey is 1-0 with an 8.10 ERA. He started the Citi Field opener Monday night against San Diego, giving up two homers and five runs in five innings of a no-decision.
