Pirates land OF Young from Dodgers
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired switch-hitting outfielder Delwyn Young from the Los Angeles Dodgers for two minor league players or for cash.
The Pirates made the move Wednesday after the Dodgers recalled Young on Monday from a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque, reinstated him from the disabled list and designated him for assignment.
The Pirates will add Young to their 25-man roster, but have not yet cleared a spot for him.
To add Young to their 40-man roster, the Pirates designated left-hander Dave Davidson for assignment.
Young has a .267 average in 110 games over three major league seasons. He had 14 pinch-hits for the Dodgers last season while hitting .246 with one home run and seven RBIs in 126 at-bats.
