Rangers' Kinsler hits for cycle

| March 19, 2009 11:00 PM

ARLINGTON, Texas - Ian Kinsler, who had already hit for the cycle, doubled in the eighth to become the second player in Rangers history with six hits in a game.

Kinsler led off the first with a double, hit his third homer of the season in the third and then had two singles in the Rangers' eight-run fourth. His triple in the sixth into the right-center gap made him the fourth player in team history to hit for the cycle.

His sixth hit came off Baltimore reliever Matt Albers into the left-center gap. Alfonso Soriano accomplished the feat for Texas on May 8, 2004 against Detroit.

Johnny Damon was the last player to record six hits in a game, doing so for the New York Yankees against Kansas City on June 7.

The last Rangers player to hit for the cycle was Gary Matthews Jr., at Detroit on Sept. 13, 2006.
