Somers Middle does well at Whitefish meet

The Somers track team competed on Friday at the Whitefish track meet, showing that they've got the right stuff to place well in their first scoring track meet in Polson later this week.

Like Bigfork, the Whitefish track meet is a non-scoring meet, so places were not awarded.

At Whitefish, Dallas Grimes led the 7th grade boys in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.29 seconds. Andrea Love led the 7th grade girls with a time of 14.39, followed by Shaela Wallen with 14.68 and Elizabeth Chmielewski with 14.70. Cmielewski finished the mile in 6:23,

Brooke Neater set the pace for the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.52 seconds. Chmielewski finished the 100 hurdles in 18 seconds and Merrik Dragon finished in 20 seconds. For the boys, Blaine Newman finished the 100 hurdles in 17 seconds, while Kyle Thompson finished in 18 seconds.

For the 8th grade boys, Parker Sutton ran the 800 meter run in 2:21 and completed the mile in 5:10. Victor Milender led Somers for discus at 102'5", and Caleb Keller landed a 37' throw for shotput. Tom Dooling finished the 100 hurdles in 18 seconds.

For the 8th grade girls, Brianna Patyk ran the 800 meter run in 2:46 and finished the mile in 6:13.

"I was really impressed this meet with how well we did at the end of the meet," Somers track coach Luke Johnson said.

Somers' next meet will be in Polson on Friday. That meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
