All students who plan to participate in any extracurricular activity at Whitefish High School in 2009-2010 must have a parent attend a mandatory informational meeting on one of the two following dates ó Thursday, May 21, and Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Whitefish High School Gym. A parent must attend one of these meetings before a student will be allowed to practice or participate.
The Whitefish Chamber of Commerces Gone Fishiní social will take place at Glacier Outdoor Center, 12400 U.S. Highway 2, in West Glacier, on Thursday, May 21, from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy complimentary snacks, beverages and a chance to win great prizes, including trips from Glacier Raft Company.
The American Red Cross will take its blood drive to The Wave on May 21 from noon to 5 p.m. sponsored the Whitefish Rotary Club.

Glacier Country Pachy?derm will meet in the Kali?spell Red Lion in Kalispell on Friday, May 22, from noon to 1 p.m. This weekís program will be ìPachyderm ó What Itís All About?î
Glacier National Parkís four non-profit partners will hold their sixth annual ìSpring for Glacierî fundraising event on Friday, May 22, at Lake McDonald Lodge. This pre-centennial gala event will benefit Glacier Institute, Glacier Association, Glacier National Park Associates and Glacier National Park Fund. The event will begin at the historic Belton Chalet in West Glacier at 4 p.m. with cocktails and hors díoeuvres. Between 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. all attendees can catch a red bus ride to Lake McDonald Lodge where the festivities will continue until 10 p.m. Boat tours will be provided by Glacier Park Boat Co. with a park naturalist on board to talk about the history around Lake McDonald. A silent auction will run from 5:30-8 p.m. and a live auction will begin at 8:30 p.m. Cost is $125 per person. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance by calling 406-888-9039.

The Whitewater Festival in Bigfork on Sunday, May 24. will feature a triathlon with a 4-mile paddle, a 14-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run. The race will start at 9:30 a.m. at the new bridge on River Road, two miles past Bigfork on Highway 209. Register with the Kalispell Athletic Club or at the Garden Bar the day prior to the race. Monday
The second annual Stumptown Scramble golf tournament will take place at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course on Memorial Day, May 25, with a shotgun start at noon and a four-person format. The tournament will benefit the Whitefish PTA and the Whitefish Education Foundation. Cost is $125 per golfer, which includes green fees, golf cart, on-course snacks and beverages, dinner and prizes. Tuesday
The Downtown Farmers Market will start the 2009 season on Tuesday, May 26, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Central Avenue between Railway Street and Depot Street and in Depot Park. The market will offer crafts, baked items, food vendors, garden products and live music by the Kalispell quartet Liquid Jazz, with John Zoltek of Glacier Symphony.
The Whitefish Centennial Art Sculpture, ìWhitefish Rising,î will be unveiled at Depot Park on Tuesday, May 26, at 6 p.m. The statue is the work of artist Cody Houston. While the statueís permanent location will one day be in front of a new City Hall, it will be temporarily taken out of storage and set up in the Depot Park pond. Limited edition table-top bronze replicas are still available at City Hall for $2,000 apiece. Thirty-five of the replicas were made to help pay for the Whitefish Centennial Art Sculpture.
The Whitefish Library Book Discussion Group meets the last Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the library meeting room. The book for Tuesday, May 26, will be ìPrairie Nocturne,î by Ivan Doig.
