Training is key to emergency situations
In a recent article in the Bigfork Eagle regarding the fire at La Provence, it was stated that the young man who put out the fire was a hero.
Yes, he did extinguish the fire, which is great.
Fire evolves at different stages: ignition, growth, flashover, fully developed and decay. If the fire was between growth and flashover, this would have been an unsafe position for people without proper personal protective equipment and training. Instead of having one emergency, now we would have two and a possible fatality.
It is great that people want to help, but please let the trained emergency service personnel handle the situation.
