Flathead National Forest is seeking information on the origin of the Baldy Wildland Fire that consumed roughly 250 acres west of Lakeside this week.

The fire was discovered the evening of Sunday, Sept. 26.

Forest investigators are looking for information regarding a medium-sized white sports utility vehicle, possibly with a "lift kit" modification. The vehicle is believed to have been on Blacktail Road between 5:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sept. 26.

The fire took place on Baldy Mountain between Stoner and Bierney creeks. It was 100 percent contained by Sept. 29. The fire has since been turned over from hotshot to local crews.

Flathead County gave pre-evacuation notices to about 160 Lakeside residents who live in the Blacktail Road and Bierney Creek Road areas in light of the fire. The notices were lifted Monday night.

Anyone providing information on the origin of the fire can remain anonymous. Contact Forest Service Law Enforcement at 758-5238 with any information regarding the origin of the Baldy Wildland Fire.
