JV, freshmen end season

Whitefish Pilot

The Whitefish JV volleyball team ended its season with a win over Ronan and a loss to Stevensville.

The Bulldogs defeated the Maidens in three games, 25-9, 25-22, 17-15. Whitefish came out very strong, but Ronan put up a good fight in the second and third games. The Lady Bulldogs served well, with 13 team aces led by Kelsey McFadden at 6.

The girls played defense very well — their serve receiving was their best all year. Taylor Havens put up 13 assists, followed by 17 kills for the 'Dogs, Jessica Poe contributing five.

The JV ended their season on Saturday with a loss to the Stevensville Yellow Jackets in a four game match, 19-25, 25-15, 7-15, 8-15. Stevensville had a strong defense, and there were many great rallies throughout the match.

Whitefish struggled with service and hitting errors, but played hard defense. The Bulldogs had a record-high 55 digs, 10 from McFadden and nine from Lindsey Viscomi.

Overall, the JV girls had a great season.

The freshman team topped Ronan on Oct. 29 in a three-set win. Brooke Silliker led the team in aces and assists. Kendall Sattler led in kills, with three, followed by Shayley Darner, with two. Hanna Lewis and Baylee Darner each had a solo block.

The freshman ended their season with a 12-5 record after a tough five-set loss Oct. 31 to Stevensville. Kelsey Baker led the team with 5 digs, while Courtney Wetsch at a stuff block.
