Spikers lose to Dogs, beat Maidens

The Columbia Falls volleyball team opened its conference play with a loss to Whitefish at home last Saturday, 20-25,17-25, 25-17, 18-25.

Kayla DeWit had eight kills and two blocks for the Kats, and Casidee Skiles had 30 assists. Shay Grilley had four aces to lead the club.

The girls had a late rally in the first game but fell short, battled back in the third game 25-17, fell short in the fourth game. The Kats were hampered by unforced errors in the loss.

Whitefish was led by Kaitlyn Wehrli , who had seven kills.

Against Ronan Tuesday the girls righted the ship, blanking the Maidens in three games 30-28, 25-19, 25-19.

DeWit had 12 kills and Brooke Cady had six aces and four blocks in the bounceback win.

The Kats are now 1-1 in conference play.

The girls travel to Anaconda for a tourney there this weekend.
