A position is currently open on BLUAC after only one person filed to run for the two open seats on the committee for the upcoming election.

The terms of Chuck Gough and Darrel Coverdell expire in May, and Gough filed for re-election.

The committee will be appointing a person to Coverdell's position for a one-year period.

That will be followed by an election for the remaining two years of the position.

The committee will be posting a 30-day notice of the open position and is accepting applications.

Anyone who wishes to apply can send a brief letter with qualifications and why they want to be on BLUAC to chair Shelley Gonzales at PO Box 2105, Bigfork, MT 59911.

Members must be registered voters within the BLUAC jurisdiction for a minimum of two years.

Applications will be reviewed at the April 29 meeting and the position will be appointed officially by the May 27 meeting.

Another position will also open up on BLUAC. The appointed member-at-large position currently held by Al Johnson is an annual position.

That will go through a similar process for a June appointment. Johnson will likely be moving out of the area and therefore at this time does not intend to seek reappointment, Gonzales said.
