The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce’s Gone Fishin’ social will take place at Flathead Performance Training, in the North Valley Hospital Village, on Thursday, April 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. with catering by Amazing Crepes.

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation will present the Telluride Mountain Film On Tour at the O’Shaughnessy on Thursday, April 15, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the first film at 7 p.m. Telluride Mountainfilm is a world-class festival with films about adventure, mountaineering, remarkable personalities and important environmental and social messages. Films this year include “Samsara,” about alpine climbing in Nepal; “Drift Bahamas,” about fly fishing in the Caribbean; “High Plains Winter,” about skijoring in Montana; and “Look to the Ground,” a profile of a blind mountain biker. Proceeds will help fund trail maintenance and wilderness stewardship projects throughout the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Children’s House Montessori School will host its 12th annual Spring Auction Extravaganza at Grouse Mountain Lodge on Friday, April 16, at 6 p.m. with more than 100 items to bid on, including spa packages, weekend getaways, a bicycle, gift baskets, day ski passes, theater tickets and restaurant gift certificates. The silent auction and raffle will begin at 6 p.m. with a live auction at 7:30 p.m. The auction is a fundraiser for scholarships, school materials and items for an outdoor classroom, complete with gardens, composting area and a weather station.

Glacier Country Pachy­derm will meet in Ballroom A or B at the Kalispell Red Lion from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 16. The guest speaker will be Tom Ray, of Plum Creek. The public is invited and lunch is available for purchase. For more information, call Tom McElwain at 270-5764.

Teakettle Quilters will host their annual quilt show, “A Little Bit of Heaven in Montana,” at Glacier Discovery Square, in Columbia Falls, on Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be vendors, demonstrations, exhibits, boutique and raffles, and the featured quilter will be Nancy Collard. Admission is free.

Flathead Audubon will hold its fourth annual Cohen Stroll along the Whitefish River bike path on Saturday, April 17. Participants will meet by the Smith ball fields pond off Highway 40 at 1 p.m. The two-hour stroll celebrates the beautiful quality of life of the Flathead, as Ferne and Marty Cohen have taught, and is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Bresnan Communica­tions, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and other local agencies, organizations, and businesses will present the Flathead County Child Safety Fair at the Expo building at the Flathead County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be free child fingerprinting and photographing services and take-home Internet safety packets. Immediately following the Fair, Bresnan will provide a free screening of the family-friendly film “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” along with free pop and popcorn.

The Dirty Hands Garden­ing Club will meet in the Whitefish Library community room on Wednesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. with a presentation on beekeeping. The Flathead Basin Committee will discuss the recent announcement by the Province of British Columbia to ban mining and energy development in the B.C.
