This year’s Clean The Fish community clean-up will take place on Saturday, April 24, beginning with a free breakfast at Glacier Bank, on Second Street, at 8:30 a.m. Trash bags and gloves will be provided, and tickets for prize drawings at lunch will be handed out. Volunteers will head out to designated areas at 9:30 a.m. A barbecue lunch will take place at the bank at 11 a.m. Grand prize for children under-18 is a mountain bike, and grand prize for adults is a gift card, both compliments of Glacier Bank.
The Glacier Symphony will perform with Mexican-American pianist Gustavo Romero in the “Passion Poetics Concert” in the Flathead High School auditorium on Saturday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 25, at 3 p.m. The symphony will begin the concert with Gabrielle Faure’s orchestral suite “Masques et Bergamasques.” Romero will bring his substantial technique and interpretive insight to Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor. Organist Paul Gregory will perform in the concert’s final piece, Saint-Saens’ Symphony No. 3 in C minor. Montana State University Extension will present a spring beekeeping workshop at Glacier High School on Saturday, April 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.. MSU entomologist Jeff Littlefield, Patty Denke of the Montana Department of Agriculture and MSU graduate student Joanna Gresswill discuss honeybee biology, necessary equipment, maintaining hive health and honey extraction. The Columbia Falls Community Choir’s free spring concert will take place at the Columbia Falls High School’s Little Theater on Saturday, April 24, at 7 p.m. The choir’s 90 members come from across the valley and are directed by Ron Bond and Penni Chisholm.
