Tennis teams wallop Ronan
Both Columbia Falls girls and boys tennis teams downed Ronan in convincing fashion Monday.
The boys won 6-1 and the girls won 7-0.
"Awesome efforts by Franki Anderson, Pepper Borland and Gabrielle Stenger," girls coach Jerry Smalley said. "They came back to win their matches after losing the first set."
"All the Kats are improving their games with every match."
Boys coach Gary Yee was pleased with the boys' effort as well.
"I was impressed with Vadim Zvygelskiy," he said. "He was giving his opponent too much room. We talked about it, he made some adjustments and pressured him on the net."
The lineup also saw some adjustments. Chris King injured his foot playing basketball and so John Woody paired up with Jordan Mueller for the win. Parker Johnson played singles as did Brian Marcille and they both had wins as well. Earlier this season, they were a doubles team.
Last Thursday, rain put the damper on tennis matches against Whitefish. The boys were rained out entirely. That match has been rescheduled for May 11.
The girls got in two matches before the rain. Natalie Law defeated Kendall Smith of Whitefish, 6-0, 6-0 and in doubles, Lexie Bartkoski and Marissa Getts of Columbia Falls beat Anne Miller and Hannah Weaver, 6-2, 7-5.
If the weather cooperates, the teams are scheduled to play Glacier today (Thursday) away, Ronan Friday away, Libby and Ronan Saturday at home, and the boys are slated to face Polson at home next Tuesday.
Tennis against Eureka on Tuesday was rained out.
