Garden thanks
The board and members of the Whitefish Community Garden would like to thank the businesses and individuals that were so helpful in our recent effort to win votes for the Nature's Path Gardens For Good Contest.
Although we received the most votes, we did not win the final round of judging because we were deemed not as much in need of help as the entrants from larger areas. We were all very pleased with our community's enthusiastic response to build something we can all be proud of. It made the process fun and very educational.
We did receive word that Nature's Path will donate $5,000 worth of product to the Whitefish North Valley Food Bank, which we feel was worth the effort on our part and is certainly part of our goal of helping to feed families. Our gardeners are also contributing weekly to our food bank with whatever is in season from their plots.
We are still working on reaching our goal of installing a water system and will be applying for other grants and, of course, accepting donations for this project. We will be having an old-fashioned garage and bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Armory building in Whitefish. We hope to see you there.
