Bigfork High School teams took to the court and the field Tuesday for their first games of the season.

Volleyball team keeps it close, but falls to Stillwater

There wasn't one game in which either team had more than a five point lead, but at the end of the four-game match it was Stillwater Christian School that was the victor in the Valkyries' home opener Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Bigfork lost the first match 25-23, won the second 25-20, lost the third 25-22 and the fourth 29-27.

The Valkyries will take the court again Friday in Deer Lodge as they take on Powell County High School in another non-conference match.

Girls soccer has disappointing first outing

The Valkyries tried to put up a fight, but they were unable to stop the Columbia Falls Wildkats, who outscored Bigfork 5-1 on Tuesday.

Senior Caitlin Charlebois had the Vals' only goal of the game at 16:25. The Kats scored two goals in the first period and three in the second.

Bigfork hosts back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday this weekend with Laurel High School and Billings Central Catholic High School, respectively. The girls play at 6 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Boys soccer keeps it at an even zero with Cats

The Bigfork boys soccer team took on Columbia Falls on the road Tuesday night for the Vikings' season opener, and both teams walked away scoreless.

Senior Nate Roberson had four saves at goalkeeper for Bigfork.

The Vikes will play host to Laurel High School at 4 p.m. Friday and to Billings Central Catholic High School at 10 a.m. Saturday.
