Write a column to share your thoughts

Letter from the editor

Everyone has a story and odds are some opinions about their community and the world around them.

That's where this page of the West Shore News comes in as a place to share all of those ideas with others.

We are always looking for columnists – people who are interested and willing to share their thoughts about issues pertinent to the West Shore.

It might seem intimidating to write a column, but here are a few ideas to think about.

If you are on a community group or committee, submit a column to explain a decision or vote you made and why. Let people know about the impacts of changes that are being made.

If you are a longtime resident of the region, share your knowledge of the history and lore of the area as a way to preserve it for future generations.

Even if you think you are just the average Joe or Jane Lakeside with nothing interesting to say, you'd find that many people would be able to relate to your experiences if you wrote them out.

All it takes to submit to the West Shore News is to send off an e-mail with your finished column of about 500 words to editor@westshorenewsonline.com.

Include your name, address and a phone number. The phone number will just be used to call and confirm the receipt of the column and that you sent it.

If you are interested in being in our regular rotation of columnists by submitting biweekly or monthly, give me a call at 837-5131.
