Vikes push past Ronan at home, Vals defeat Whitefish on the road
Thirteen was the Valkyries' lucky number Thursday night as they put up that magic number of points in each of the first three quarters in their game against Whitefish, and added an additional 16 in the fourth quarter to take a 55-38 victory.
Defensively, Bigfork (8-2) held the Lady Bulldogs (0-8) to seven points in the first quarter, 11 in the second and third, and nine in the final period.
Mallery Knoll and Quinci Paine led the Vals in the non-conference triumph with 19 points and 18 points, respectively. Caitlin Charlebois contributed 10.
The same night, the Vikings hosted Ronan for another non-conference match-up and defeated them 66-52 after holding a 20-point lead at the half.
The Vikes lead was kick-started by a 20-point first quarter in which they held Ronan to just six points. Bigfork let down in the second half though, and got outscored 15-12 in the third quarter and 23-20 in the fourth.
Evan Jordt led the Vikes with 17 points. Carter Sorensen added 10 points, Travis Knoll had nine and Christian Ker had eight.
The girls' next game is Friday, Jan. 22, in Eureka. The boys host Whitefish tonight, Jan. 15.
