Boys go ten and oh!

If success is a virus, then the Cats are sick all over. Last week the Columbia Falls boys basketball team dropped Ronan 67-35 and Whitefish 73-50 to stretch their winning streak to 10 games.

Against Ronan Thursday the team had four players in double figures, Mitchell Wassam had 15, Austin Barth 14, Michael Williams had 13 and Nick Emerson, 10.

Against the Bulldogs, Kyle Howell and Kaleb Johnson had 17 apiece, Williams dropped 11 and Wassam had 12.

The Cats outrebounded the Chiefs 41-25 and held them to just 26 percent shooting from the field. They also hounded them — forcing 15 turnovers in the first half alone.

Coach Cary Finberg was pleased with the performance and noted Michael Williams played the best game of his high school career, hitting four treys.

Against Whitefish, the stats were closer but the outcome the same. The Cats outrebounded the Dogs 29-20.The Cats only had 12 turnovers and they shot 54 percent from the field.

Nick Emerson played a lot of minutes at point guard which opened up shots for Howell and other players, Finberg noted.

"He did a great job of finding the open man and getting them the ball," Finberg said.

Player of the week honors went to Johnson, who had had 25 points, 22 rebounds, 7 assists and was 12 for 17 shooting over two games.

"He's playing great ball on both ends of the floor," Finberg said.

JV Player of the week was Parker Johnson, with nine points in each game in wins against the Chiefs, 49-36 and Dogs, 66-32.

The Cats travel to AA Glacier Friday night and class B Missoula Loyola Saturday night. Gametimes are 8 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively.

Finberg said both teams should be good games. Loyola has two big men at 6-7 and 6-6 and Glacier is a dangerous AA opponent.
